It's
that time of year - pre-season football is just
around the corner and we've got some crafting projects
to show off your team spirit!
We used 2 coordinating fabrics
of our local football team, the Tennessee Titans®.
With just 3 1/2 yards of fabric you can cover these
pieces in about an hour!
Supplies
for Lil' Rock-a-Bit Rocker:
1
Lil' Rock-a-Bit Rocker
3 1/2 yards of team's fabric
3 1/2 yards of light fusible webbing (Heat N' Bond)
Aleene's Designer Tacky Glue
7 yards of 5/8" ribbon (we recommend grosgrain)
How
to:
1. Pre-assemble your rocker
so that you see what areas are hidden and what areas
slide together. These areas should NOT be covered
in fabric. You can mark these areas with a pencil.
Disassemble for decorating.
2. Iron fusible webbing onto
back of fabric. Remove paper backing once it cools.
3. Layout each piece onto fabric before you begin
ironing. Make sure you keep your fabric in the same
direction for assembly and remember that you need
to apply fabric to the other side of the pieces,
so layout your pieces to conserve fabric.
4. You can loosely cut the fabric
around each piece and iron directly onto the cardboard.
On the rocker, REMEMBER NOT TO IRON FABRIC ONTO
THE AREAS THAT SLIDE TOGETHER! Do this by only lightly
tacking down the fabric around the slotted areas,
and when trimming the fabric around the edges, simply
cut the fabric away from your penciled areas and
iron the fabric firmly into place. When trimming
the edges, leave enough so that you can iron it
slightly over the edges. This avoids frayed fabric
when you cover the edges with ribbon.
5. Apply ribbon to edges using
the tacky glue.
TIPS: On the rocker, you can have a little of the fabric
overlap onto the areas that slide together, but
when you assemble the rocker, make sure the fabric
doesn't pull.
If you end up with a little
cardboard showing, you can try to iron a small piece
of fabric into place, or look for colored markers
that match the fabric and fill in the space!
Show off your team enthusiasm!
These are great items for holiday fundraising events!!
